The Most Alien-Looking Place on Earth

I have typically never been a fan of American cars, but this is exciting in so many ways. The Volt could potentially finally turn around the giant short-sighted douche bag of a monolith known as General Motors. The market is hot, Priuses (Priusi?) are selling out faster than you can say “Jerry Seinfeld” and it would certainly be nice to have more competition on the field. Also the engineering breakthroughs in this vehicle are certainly impressive, with gasoline only being used to produce electricity and absolutely nothing else. Oh and let’s not forget, it has not one but TWO LCD screens in it (of course we all know there is a direct correlation between the number of LCD screens in your car and the size of your penis. Take that Toyota).

Umbrella Today?

Love this. A simple solution to a simple (and incredibly common) problem. Ever since last year I’ve been keeping a list on my computer of various problems/frustrations I run into throughout the course of my day that there doesn’t seem to be a decent solution to. This growing document has become great to read through from time to time for potential business idea inspirations. After all, isn’t that what businesses do? Make solutions? So instead of figuring out what solutions to make, it makes me look at it from the other perspective, what problem should I solve?

Why Safe Kids Are Becoming Fat Kids

What America is doing to our children is terrible. When I was little, my day was not complete until my knees were scraped and I had thrown a dodgeball at some kid’s face. Taking little elementary school risks is part of growing up; my future children will not be raised in a bubble.

When you don’t create things, you become defined by your tastes rather than ability. Your tastes only narrow & exclude people. So create.

What I Learned Buying a Rug in Turkey

This article details an encounter the author had in Turkey with an incredibly impressive rug salesperson. Sales may not be something that you are particularly interested in but the skills involved in it are undeniably useful for many things in life. Check it.

Top 10 Richest People of All Time

Very interesting article, I found this excerpt especially badass:

Vanderbilt was ruthless in business. He once wrote a short (and now famous) letter to Charles Morgan and C.K. Garrison of the Morgan & Garrison company. The two men manipulated his steamship company’s stock in his absence and took it over. The letter read “Gentlemen: you have undertaken to cheat me. I won’t sue you, for the law is too slow. I’ll ruin you. Yours truly, Cornelius Vanderbilt.” True to his words, two years later Vanderbilt forced them out of business by running a competing business.”

Don’t worry about what the world needs. Ask what makes you come alive and do that. Because what the world needs are people who have come alive.
